Adelphi continues to offer theFDA-approved Pfizer vaccineto our students, faculty, staff and alumni at the Health Services Center on our Garden City campus. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for individuals 16 years of age and older on August 23, 2021. We are also offering the Pfizer vaccine booster to our community.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if you are 18 years or older you may choose which COVID-19 vaccine you receive as a booster shot (ie: the same type you originally received or a different booster). The CDC recommendations allow for mix and match dosing for booster shots.Read more on the CDC website

The following New Yorkers are now eligible for a second COVID-19 vaccine booster of an mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) vaccine:

  • Adults ages 50 years and older may choose to receive a second booster dose of an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) at least four months after their first booster dose.
  • New Yorkers ages 18–49 years who received the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine as both their primary series dose and initial booster dose may receive a second booster dose of an mRNA vaccine at least 4 months after their first booster dose.

If you arefully remote or in an online degree program,you are exempt from this policy. If you visit campus for any reason, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or wear a mask at all times.

We are currently conducting random surveillance testing of all members of Adelphi’s on-campus population for ongoing assessment of infection rates in our community. High-risk groups —student-athletes (consistent with our NCAA agreement) and all unvaccinated residence hall students—will continue to be tested weekly. The definition of “Fully Vaccinated” means students, faculty, and employees:

Effective Friday, March 25, 2022, mask use in indoor spaces on our Garden City campus and in Adelphi Learning Centers is optional for everyone. However, the following exceptions apply:

Yes. We will continue to require all community members to submit a daily health screening and agree to follow established Adelphi health and safety protocols. The screening questionnaire continues to be available on theAU2GO mobile app, online viaeCampus, and using paper forms available at the Office of Public Safety or South Avenue Public Safety booth.

The only unvaccinated members of our community permitted on campus are those who have approved medical or religious exemptions. You should also continue to maintain social distance and wash your hands or use sanitizer frequently.

By following established health and safety protocols, the Adelphi community was highly successful at preventing the spread of the virus on campus and keeping our positive rate far below the threshold throughout the pandemic. All Adelphi community members should continue vigilant hand hygiene and stay home when feeling unwell.
