Vaccination Information

Adelphi has continued to monitor the science and data regarding the spread of COVID-19. Our decision is based on the changing public health landscape and scientific evidence that supports the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines and boosters in preventing the spread of the virus:

• Reviewthe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)data on current COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the United States.

Adelphi University’s vaccine and booster requirements apply to all current Adelphi students and Nassau Community College students living in Adelphi residence halls.

Your COVID-19 vaccine must becurrently authorized by the World Health Organization (WHO)．This includes those vaccinescurrently authorized for emergency use in the United StatesModerna、辉瑞(Pfizer)和强生(Johnson & Johnson)。

On December 23, 2021, Adelphi expanded the criteria for full vaccination requirements to include a booster dose of the vaccine within seven days of becoming eligible.

Eligibility is determined in accordance withthe current guidelinesfrom the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

• Five months after the second dose of a Moderna vaccine
• Five months after the second dose of a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
• Two months after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine

If you arefully remote or in an online degree program,you are exempt from this policy. If you visit campus for any reason, you will be required to show proof of vaccination or wear a mask at all times.

If you are not in compliance with theUniversity’s immunization policy, you will receive alerts and reminders to submit proof of vaccination. If you remain non-compliant beyond the indicated deadlines or any University-approved grace period, you will not be permitted on campus, which may impact your enrollment in classes.

You cansubmit a request for exemption from this policy．All requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Unvaccinated individualswith approved exemptionswill be required to follow establishedhealth and safety protocolsat Adelphi and must agree to regular testing protocols in place at the University.

If you have an approved medical or religious exemption and are unvaccinated, you will be required to abide by all health and safety protocols for unvaccinated individuals in order to be allowed to participate in in-person learning and activities:

• submit COVID-19 test results to Health and Wellness every week (on their own time and expense)

Once your vaccination is complete, you must upload proof of your completed vaccine series to the secureAdelphi University Health Portal．

The vaccination and/or testing requirement is waived only for those employees who:

• are approved by their supervisor to teach or work fully remotely
• will not be coming to campus at any time
• will not have in-person contact with students or other Adelphi employees, even for a very short period of time.

Yes. Per New York state law, all Adelphi employees are entitled to four (4) hours of paid time off per COVID-19 vaccine injection. You canread more about it on the NYS website．

You should notify your manager of scheduled appointments in advance and note the time off as “½ CV” (Covid Vaccine) on your time cards/sheets.

No. Adelphi is not providing time off or reimbursement for your weekly COVID-19 testing.

We are currently conducting random surveillance testing of all members of Adelphi’s on-campus population for ongoing assessment of infection rates in our community. High-risk groups —student-athletes (consistent with our NCAA agreement) and all unvaccinated residence hall students—will continue to be tested weekly. At-home tests may be used to satisfy this requirement.

As we have done throughout the pandemic, Adelphi will continue to closely monitor the public health landscape, follow the recommendations of public health experts and adjust our protocols based on the science and how COVID-19 is affecting our region and community.

All unvaccinated Adelphi students (with approved exemptions) on campus are subject to mandatory regular (not random) testing and, all Adelphi employees who are unvaccinated and who come to campus are required to submit the results of a weekly COVID-19 test.

COVID-19 test results should be submitted by unvaccinated employees every week within 72 hours of the test.

If you are still in the process of getting vaccinated, please alerthealthandwellness@adelphi.eduand then upload your final proof when your vaccine series is complete.

Categories of eligible individuals are set by the FDA and New York state; Adelphi does not determine who can get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The definition of “Fully Vaccinated” means students, faculty, and employees:

(a) who have completed all doses including a booster shot of an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed COVID-19 vaccine;

(b) for whom 14 days have passed since their booster dose; AND

(c) who have uploaded proof of vaccination to the Health Portal.

Effective Friday, March 25, 2022, mask use in indoor spaces on our Garden City campus and in Adelphi Learning Centers is optional for everyone. However, the following exceptions apply:

• Individuals who are in or returning from isolation and quarantine will be required to wear masks for a certain period of time, as required by the New York State Department of Health. Details can be found below.

Yes. We will continue to require all community members to submit a daily health screening and agree to follow established Adelphi health and safety protocols. The screening questionnaire continues to be available on theAU2GO mobile app, online viaeCampus, and using paper forms available at the Office of Public Safety or South Avenue Public Safety booth.

The only unvaccinated members of our community permitted on campus are those who have approved medical or religious exemptions. You should also continue to maintain social distance and wash your hands or use sanitizer frequently.

By following established health and safety protocols, the Adelphi community was highly successful at preventing the spread of the virus on campus and keeping our positive rate far below the threshold throughout the pandemic. All Adelphi community members should continue vigilant hand hygiene and stay home when feeling unwell.

All Adelphi employees are entitled to a maximum of four (4) hours of paid time off per COVID-19 vaccine injection.
