Specializations
Learn to craft physical education to maximize learning for those with physical or intellectual disabilities. Through coursework, you’ll understand how to apply knowledge of the characteristics, considerations, and movement abilities of common impairments to meet the needs, limitations and capacities of students with disabilities.

Our students gain valuable hands-on experience that can be directly applied to their work as teachers, coaches and administrators. You’ll have the opportunity to apply for the innovative tuition-free Sport-Based Youth Development Fellowship, where students gain valuable experience and connections through a field-based partnership. Applicants must should submit the following:
- Graduate application and $50 fee
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal essay
- Official transcripts from all prior institutions and proof of bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
- Résumé (preferred)
Please note that this program does not prepare for New York state teacher certification.
