Policy

Tuition Exchange is a consortium of over 600 colleges and universities in the United States which allows dependent children of current full-time employees, with at least four (4) years of continuous full-time service, to apply to earn their first Bachelor’s degree at participating institutions other than Adelphi University tuition free. An employee must continue in a full-time position in order to continue eligibility.

Procedures

  1. Typically, in mid-September, the Senior Human Resources Generalist sends a memo to all Adelphi employees with the criteria, guidelines, andhow to apply onlinefor the Tuition Exchange Program.
  2. Successful candidates must be accepted for registration at these institutions for the following fall semester as a full-time student. Scholarships are awarded for a period of one year and must be reapplied for on an annual basis. The application deadline for September enrollment is the previous December.
  3. Applications must be submitted online through the Tuition Exchange website at:telo.tuitionexchange.org/apply.cfm

  5. Awards are based on GPA, SAT/ACT scores, etc. (see the guidelines and criteria for specific documentation). Documentation such as transcripts and SAT/ACT scores must be submitted separately in hard copy form.
  6. Recertification applicants do not have to complete an online application; they must only send in the required documentation, as outlined in the guidelines and criteria.
  7. The Tuition Exchange Committee reviews all applications in mid-January.
  8. The student is responsible for gaining acceptance to the Tuition Exchange college or university.
  9. If a student is awarded a Tuition Exchange scholarship by Adelphi, this scholarship is contingent upon the import college/university approving the student through the rules and requirements of that institution’s Tuition Exchange Program. Please note, each institution uses its own acceptance formula and deadlines for granting Tuition Exchange awards.
