Explore Grant Opportunities

Adelphi faculty members are encouraged to explore this array of funding opportunities and sources.

U.S. Department of Education
The department has several grants covering a range of topics and interests including school readiness, educational opportunities for those serving children with disabilities, Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad, school violence prevention and school physical education projects. Please call or email the ORSP for additional information.

U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES)
The IES usually has research grant deadlines in August for research proposals in the following areas: reading and writing, math and science education, cognition and student learning, teacher quality–reading and writing, teacher quality–math and science education, education leadership, and social and behavioral context for academic learning. These grants fund research projects that involve experimental and quasi-experimental designs only.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
The NEA supports projects in arts education, dance, music, media arts, theatre, and more. Depending on the type of program, deadlines vary but are usually twice per year—February and July.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
The NEH funds fellowships, summer institutes, summer stipends, digital projects and preservation projects, as well as other projects. Fellowships support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences or both. Fellowships support continuous full-time work for a period of six to 12 months.

National Institutes of Health (NIH)
NIH’s format and submission requirements have changed. The research design section is now limited to six pages if the previous version was under 25 pages, e.g., R21, and 12 pages if the previous application was limited to 25 pages, e.g., R01. This new research strategy section is subdivided into three parts: significance, innovation and approach. The biographical sketch is now five pages, continues to incorporate a personal statement and now has a contribution to science section where you describe five of your most recent contributions to science.

National Science Foundation (NSF)
NSF has numerous programs and deadlines, like Law and Social Sciences, Documenting Endangered Languages and Informed Science Education. If you would like more information, please contact the office.
